The first icefall ever climbed in Italy is located indeed in this valley; it has to do with the Ciucchinel icefall and the year was 1977. We’re in the south-western side of the Alps, in the occitan valleys, at the Stone King’s shade. The large quantity of icefalls that are to be found in this valley, their variety and accessibility, made the Varaita valley a very popular destination. The icefalls there match any difficulty level and are for all tastes. From the entry-level icefalls like the Ciucchinel, Berrò and Limo Nero, to more technical icefalls such as the Chandelle Gastok, or other icefalls deep in a natural environment like the Rocca Bianca in Macrocouloir, the Grassi/Tesera goulotte at the Ferra Mount, the Caprera Triangle goulotte. So contact us to organize your custom-made day excursion or multiple-day tour!
We meet up in Borgo San Dalmazzo or directly in the valley (timtable to be agreed with the guide depending on the itinerary). Tranfer and iceclimbing. Descent and return to the valley. After the excursion a stop in one of the valley’s huts/inns to taste some typical dishes is mandatory!
In case of multiple-day tours we have many stopovers and in each of them food and service are of great quality.
