This wonderful ski mountaineering tour is to be considered one of the best in the Alps. Deep in the wild nature of the Gran Paradiso National Park we will go from one valley to the next on a round tour with starting and ending point in Cogne. The third stop-over is not only characterized by the Chabod hut – Vittorio Emanuele II hut traverse, but also by the ascent to the Gran Paradiso peak, at 4.061 m of altitude, the one and only completely Italian 4.000 m high peak.
Day 1: Car transfer to Cogne (Valle d’Aosta), meeting with all the participants, material check and ascent along the Lauson valley to the Sella hut.
Day 2: Sella hut – Chabod hut, crossing the majestic Gran Serra peak. This second stage leads us from the Cogne side to Valsavarenche, through a long and technically demanding traverse.
Day 3: Chabod hut – Vittorio Emanuele II hut. This stage meets the usual ascent way to the Gran Paradiso peak (4.061m) so, with a short deviation, we will reach the top of the entire massif.
Day 4: Vittorio Emanuele II hut – Pontese hut. In this classical stage of the tour we will cross the most awesome and important passes of the whole park, and we will move from Valle d’Aosta to Piedmont.
Day 5: Pontese hut – Cogne. The last stage of this tour awaits us with the ascent to the Teleccio pass and the wonderful descent in the lonely Valeille. Finish line: Cogne.
