Corno Stella is the mountain symbol of classic and modern alpinism around Cuneo. It offers routes that are always challenging, even when partially equipped with bolts, and a technical climbing style that matches with a strict evaluation of the difficulties. In addition to the classic routes there are many itineraries on the lower buttresses, ideal for climbing training sessions, especially when teaching how to behave on long routes and for first mountaineering experiences. The severe environment and a pretty high altitude require an aware approach and appropriate clothing!
Day 1: Meeting with the guide at the Global Mountain office in Cuneo in the early afternoon; after a brief check of the individual equipment, we will go by car to the Gesso Valley, directed to the hot springs of the Terme di Sant’Anna in Valdieri. Once passed the spa we will get to the Gias delle Mosche where we will leave the car. From there we will walk on a path to the Bozano hut (2 hours) where we will have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 2: Wake up early in the morning, breakfast and departure on a path to get to the starting point of the chosen route. We will climb the route to get to the plateau and from there shortly to the summit of Corno Stella. We will have a quick snack and once taken the usual pictures we will proceed with the abseil descent that brings us back to the grassy ledge located in the middle of the wall. Walking on an exposed path and climbing down, we will reach the scree slope that leads us first to the hut and then to the valley.
Return expected in the evening.
