Who is it for

The via ferrata course is aimed at all mountain enthusiasts, from beginners to experienced hikers, who want to move safely on equipped routes.

It is the ideal choice for:

  • Absolute beginners: For those who want to discover the world of via ferratas by learning the basics, from equipment to correct progression.
  • Experienced hikers: For those already familiar with the mountains but who want to acquire specific techniques for vertical routes.
  • Those seeking refinement: To consolidate your technique and improve safety maneuvers under the guidance of a professional.
  • Groups and families: To share an educational experience, learning together how to move independently and with awareness.

Program

Day 1: Basics, equipment, and technique

  • Meeting and theory: A brief theoretical introduction and check of mandatory equipment (harness, helmet, via ferrata set). In-depth look at the correct use of materials, safety, and progression maneuvers.
  • Field practice: Practical lesson on a low-difficulty via ferrata to immediately apply the concepts learned. The goal is to gain confidence with vertical movement, correct carabiner management, and body posture.
  • Risk management: Explanation of the "fall clearance" concept, analysis of objective and subjective hazards, and how to deal with them.

Day 2: Consolidation and autonomy

  • Climb planning: Choosing the day's route based on acquired skills and conditions. Discussion on logistics, gear to bring (food, water, clothing), and time estimation.
  • Advanced progression: Tackling a longer and more challenging via ferrata to test your skills. The guide will teach you how to read the route and independently manage more complex sections using rest points.
  • Safety techniques: Review and refinement of progression techniques. Introduction to basic rope and emergency maneuvers.

Necessary materials

Clothing:

  • trekking/approach shoes
  • thermal shirt
  • mountaineering/climbing pants
  • technical sweatshirt/microfleece
  • waterproof/windproof shell in Gore-Tex or similar
  • leather gloves
  • at least a 25 L backpack recommended

Technical Equipment:

  • harness
  • helmet
  • certified via ferrata kit
  • 1 quickdraw

The technical equipment listed above is mandatory for course access. All personal protective equipment (harness, helmet, carabiners, etc.) must be in the student's possession by the first outing and can be rented from the School. Any questions or concerns regarding the necessary technical equipment will be discussed in detail during the first course outing.

Useful information

IMPORTANT NOTICES (WHATSAPP GROUPS)

  • Primary Communication Channel: All course-related communications, including logistical updates, outing details, and last-minute information, will be sent via dedicated WhatsApp groups for participants. It is essential to be active and check these groups regularly to stay up-to-date.

LOGISTICAL DETAILS (MEETING TIME AND PLACE)

  • Weather-dependent Updates: The exact meeting time and location for each outing will be communicated by the guides 1 or 2 days before the scheduled date. This timing is necessary to be able to accurately evaluate the weather forecast and choose the most suitable and safe location for the activity.

LUNCH AND HYDRATION (INDEPENDENCE)

  • Individual Responsibility: Lunch is a packed lunch, so each participant is responsible for bringing enough food for the entire day in the mountains. Likewise, it is crucial to ensure you have an adequate supply of water or other beverages to stay hydrated during physical activity. Guides can provide advice on this, but individual preparation is essential.

LOCATION OF OUTINGS (MARITIME ALPS AND POSSIBLE VARIATIONS)

  • Main Geographical Area: Practical course outings will preferably take place in the beautiful Maritime Alps, a region rich in opportunities for learning alpine rock techniques.
  • Possible Transfers: However, in order to optimize environmental conditions (weather, crowding, specific terrain) and ensure the best possible training experience, it is possible that some trips may be organized in Liguria (Finalese area), renowned for its cliffs and coastal environment, or in the Monviso area, an iconic mountain with unique mountaineering characteristics. Any changes in location will be communicated promptly via WhatsApp groups.

The price includes

  • 2 days of outdoor course with Global Mountain Alpine Guides

The price excludes

  • Transfers and any overnight stays
  • Make-up sessions for personal reasons
  • Missing clothing or technical equipment (possibility to rent all technical equipment)

4. Minimum number of participants

Group activities have a minimum number of participants to be confirmed. This minimum number is stated on the page dedicated to the activity. If the minimum number of participants is not reached, the activity may be canceled or you will be given the option to:

  • pay a supplement to have a private Mountain Guide
  • move the booking to another date

If none of these options are feasible, paying participants will be refunded the fee according to the methods listed in the Refunds section.

5. Program changes

Changes to the outings or their program may be made by the responsible Mountain Guide (as established in the “Role of the Mountain Guide” section) or due to force majeure. For organizational reasons, ad-hoc changes cannot be made for the personal needs of individuals.

We reserve the right to provide the necessary equipment for the activity subject to availability in our warehouse or if expressly agreed with the Mountain Guide in charge of the outing.

7. Role of the Mountain Guide

The work of a Mountain Guide is a commercial activity in all respects which, as such, involves an engagement from both parties (guide and client) to ensure high quality of the service purchased. The Mountain Guide is solely responsible for carrying out the program and may, for various reasons (weather conditions, mountain conditions, physical condition of individual group members, safety, etc.), modify the course of the trip during the outing itself. It will always be the Mountain Guide's task to propose alternative dates or destinations to the main one.

8. Cancellations

Voluntary cancellation of a booking can be done by contacting our office at promotion@globalmoutain.it specifying your first name, last name, and the activity you were registered for. If you purchase an activity 60 days in advance of the first outing, you have 48 hours after purchase to cancel and you will receive a refund net of a 3% administration and management fee.

Beyond this period, if you decide to cancel your booking, you will be able to do so with the following penalties:

  • 75% refund if the booking is canceled within 30 days of the start of the course/activity.
  • 50% refund if the booking is canceled between 30 and 8 days before the start of the course/activity.
  • 0% refund if the booking is canceled within 7 days before the start of the course/activity.

Refund methods are listed in the Refunds section.

In case of cancellation due to a change in program or because the minimum number of participants was not reached, the Scuola di Alpinismo, Scialpinismo e Arrampicata Guide Alpine Cuneo will automatically issue a refund at no cost.

9. Refunds

The methods are:

  • Direct remittance via bank transfer
  • Credit Card
  • Satispay
  • Voucher/Gift Card spendable on other activities for sale on the globalmountain.it website

10. Transfer of booking to third parties

Should it be impossible to use the purchased activity, the Scuola di Alpinismo, SciAlpinismo e Arrampicata Guide Alpine Cuneo allows the transfer of the booking to a third person (who meets any required conditions), provided notice is given at least 4 days before the activity start date.
