The ski mountaineering ascent of Gran Paradiso, the iconic peak of the namesake National Park, represents an unforgettable experience for mountain and ski mountaineering enthusiasts. The ascent takes place over two days, with an overnight stay at Rifugio Chabod. Climbing Gran Paradiso is an experience that offers unique and unforgettable emotions. The effort of the ascent is amply rewarded by the beauty of the views and the satisfaction of reaching such a prestigious summit.
Program
DAY ONE
Departure from Pont Valsavarenche (1960 m): the route winds through forests and snowy slopes, offering breathtaking views of Gran Paradiso and the surrounding peaks. Arrival at the refuge and accommodation. Approximately 3-4h/800m elevation gain.
SECOND DAY
Starting from the refuge, traverse horizontally at the base of the Laveciau Glacier beneath the north face of Gran Paradiso, crossing it while skirting a crevassed area up to the ridge at 3800m; here the route joins the track ascending from Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele and, after the final steep slope, reaches the col just below the summit where skis are left (1300m elevation gain). From here, along the exposed ridge, you reach the Madonna statue at the summit (4061m). The descent can follow the ascent route or take enjoyable and easy slopes down to Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele, completing the traverse; from here, return to Valsavarenche with a long and thrilling ski descent. Approximately 5-6h/1300m elevation gain.

Adriano Ferrero
Alpine Guide
He has been practicing mountaineering and alpine activities for over twenty years. He lives at the foot of the Maritime Alps and loves being in contact with wild nature, climbing, and ski mountaineering in places where beauty is not just a matter of opinion. In addition to the mountains, he is passionate about wide open spaces and horses.
Silvio Bassignano
Alpine Guide
A great mountain enthusiast, he spent many years managing the Bozano Refuge at the base of Corno Stella, a mountain on which he is also co-author of a monographic guidebook. He trained in the Maritime Alps and around Monviso, and collaborates with ski resorts and A.I.NE.VA. as safety director for avalanche risk prevention.
Daniele Macagno
Alpine Guide, Ski Instructor
He divides his residence between Peveragno and Limone, where he also works as a ski instructor. A strong mountaineer with an impressive track record, he works as a Mountain Guide with enthusiasm and professionalism. He is a National Instructor in the training courses for Mountain Guides. He works as a helicopter rescue technician for the emergency medical service 118.
