A tour to discover the queen of the Maritime Alps, the Argentera (3,290 m), in the heart of the Gesso Valley and the Maritime Alps Natural Park.

Fate has it that, separated from her beloved King Monviso, she is destined to watch him from afar for eternity. Around her, an amphitheater of high peaks that, like bold knights, protect her from adversity.

Program

DAY 1: departure from Terme di Valdieri, a tourist resort where King Victor Emmanuel II decided to create a real thermal complex, towards the Morelli Buzzi Refuge. Our gaze will be immediately captured by the Lourousa, a snow-filled couloir nestled between the severe north face of Corno Stella, Cima Gelas di Lourousa, and Monte Stella. Much loved despite its steepness, it has seen many mountaineers over the years who have attempted its risky descent. Dinner and overnight stay at the refuge.

Elevation gain: +987 m to the Morelli Buzzi Refuge.

DAY 2: leaving the refuge, we'll head towards the pass, from which to enjoy a spectacular view of the Chiotas dam, the Genova Refuge, and Monte Gelas, the southernmost glacier in the Alps. We'll then climb back up towards the Vallone delle Rovine to Lake Nasta, considered one of the highest bodies of water in the Maritime Alps, and from there we'll reach the Remondino Refuge. Dinner and overnight stay.

Elevation gain: +449 m to Lake Nasta.

DAY 3: a long transition stage. From the Remondino Refuge, we'll descend into the valley towards Pian della Casa and climb back up towards the Fremamorta Lakes. Through a long stretch of undulating terrain, we'll reach Colletto di Valasco and then the Questa Refuge.

Elevation change: -729 m to Pian della Casa and +653 m to the Questa Refuge.

DAY 4: return to Terme di Valdieri passing through the enchanting Piana del Valasco.

Elevation loss: -1024 m from the Questa Refuge descending to Terme di Valdieri.
