The iconic mountain of the Maritime Alps needs no introduction. At 3297m, it’s clearly visible from the Cuneo plains and is a climb that every mountain-loving local should have in their portfolio. The ascent via the Normal Route is a relatively easy mountaineering climb but should not be underestimated due to its length and exposure in certain sections.

Program

At the client's choice - even for group ascents - the climb can be done in one or two days.

1. Single-day ascent: this option is for experienced hikers with good fitness. The ascent takes place in one long, magnificent day, starting at dawn from Pian della Casa del Re to tackle the climb and descent (4 to 5 hours ascending)

2. Classic two-day ascent: this is the recommended option to fully savor the high-altitude environment and alpine experience. The program includes:

• Day 1: Independent ascent to Rifugio Remondino (2430 m) and overnight stay. Booking at Rifugio Remondino is the responsibility of clients.
• Day 2: Meeting with the Mountain Guide directly at the refuge at approximately 6:00 AM. After introductions and a brief briefing, we'll set off together for the summit.

From Rifugio Remondino, you climb along a scree slope leading to Passo dei Detriti 3122 m. During the ascent of the steep gully, you're surrounded by a wide rocky amphitheater bordered by Cima di Nasta, Cima Paganini, and the Cresta Sigismondi. Upon reaching Passo dei Detriti, the mountaineering section of the climb begins, consisting of a long, exposed traverse where roping up is necessary, followed by a series of steep gullies (which can sometimes be icy) that lead with easy and enjoyable climbing to the South Summit of Argentera 3297m. The descent follows the ascent route.
